From the UN: “Racism, xenophobia and intolerance are problems prevalent in all societies. But every day, each and every one of us can stand up against racial prejudice and intolerant attitudes. Be a human rights champion, #fightracism and Stand up for someone’s rights today. WHAT CAN YOU DO TO FIGHT RACISM?”
I actually feel this would be better stated, “We disapprove of violence as an expression of power unless under direct threat of violence itself”.
We should not be making statements that encourage the policing of people’s beliefs. We can’t, that is foolish. Rather, only endorse, encourage, and practice peaceful knowledge-seeking and knowledge-sharing.
Allowing room for diversity will always create conflict. If we endorse diversity then we must expect conflict and learn how to resolve and diffuse conflict. If we prefer sovereign beliefs we shall then strike down those that do not align with our system.
You cannot have it both ways.
